Your word I have hidden in my heart,
that I might not sin against You.
Psalm 119:11

TAKING IT IN

Some of you may be too young to remember “The Adventures of Superman.” Stories follow “Superman” as he battles crooks, gangsters, and other villains in the fictional city of Metropolis while masquerading “off duty” as Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent.

Holy Spirit, Superwomen, Revive
Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen, Clark’s colleagues at the office, often find themselves in dangerous situations which can only be resolved with Superman’s timely intervention. When evil reared its ugly head, Clark Kent dashed into the nearest telephone booth and quickly changed into his superhero attire, cape and all, and was ready to save the day!  Who would have known that hidden beneath that quiet and reserved reporter was the strong and mighty “Superman”!

Believe it or not Psalm 119:11 reveals where our supernatural power is hidden; in the Word of God as it is stored up in our heart.

MAKING IT MEANINGFUL

The word rendered “hidden” means to conceal, so that a thing may be secret, private, and inaccessible; then, to lay up in private, to treasure up or to hoard – as money or jewels – commonly “hidden” from public view. It then means to lay up in one’s heart, as a secret, inaccessible place; to hide one’s thoughts; purposes, designs; or to lay up knowledge or wisdom in the heart as a treasure, The meaning here is, that the Psalmist had “treasured” up the word of God, as the most valuable thing, in his heart; it was “there,” though unseen; it constituted the secret power by which he was governed; it was permanently deposited there, as the most valuable of his treasures.

And just as Superman was there to save the day, so the Word of God is stored up in our hearts and used as a powerful weapon to be used to defeat our enemies and come against the sin that seeks to destroy us.

Psalm 37:31 proclaims:
The law of their God is in their hearts; their feet do not slip.

WORKING IT INTO MY HEART

Holy Spirit, Superwomen, Revive
Every sin begins with a lie and lies can only be defeated with truth. As quickly as an evil thought rises in our mind it must be captured and thrown out! More importantly that lie must be replaced with truth.  As truth comes to light the Holy Spirit empowers us to walk in it.

So my fellow Superwomen!!!

Are you ready to take on your enemies today? What lies have you believed lately? Go to your Word and write down some Scriptures to memorize and store up in your heart, so when that lie presents itself you are ready to conquer it with truth! Slowly but surely your heart will be “REVIVED” and your mind “RENEWED” to the powerful truths that will rescue you from evil!
I have a powerful tool I use in counseling.
It is taken from Nancy Leigh DeMoss in her book, “LIES WOMEN BELIEVE“. She has done a great job in summarizing the top 40 lies women believe and responded to them with the truths that set us free.
Spend some this week reviewing each one! Be sure you haven’t fallen prey to any of them. Begin to hide those truths in your heart so you are ready and able to triumph over sin!
